Lavender Oil: Benefits & Uses
Lavender essential oil is one of the most popular essential oils, originating from the plant lavandula angustifolia. It is believed that the oil promotes relaxation and fights anxiety, insomnia and has antibacterial properties among others.

Lavender oil is most commonly known for it's relaxing properties; rubbing or spraying (diluted) this oil on your skin or pillow can improve the quality and duration of your sleep. However, at The Lekker Company we love this oil because it contains amazing antibacterial properties that helps heal wounds, breakouts and lessen eczema. Not to mention, the smell of Lavender is oh so soothing on your armpits after a nice warm shower and ensures a relaxing start to your day.
Lavender oil benefits that are worth mentioning:
1. Help against acne breakouts
It can help against acne thanks to its antibacterial properties, Lavender oil can unclog pores and reduce inflammation. Make sure to dilute this essential oil with a carrier oil such as coconut or almond oil before applying it to your clean skin.
2. May Reduce Anxiety
Can help sooth anxiety Inhaling the scent of lavender oil can reduce anxiety and improve your overall mood.

3. Speed up the healing time of wounds
Lavender oil promotes the healing of skin tissue, making it suitable for cuts and small wounds. Dilute 4 to 5 drops of this essential oil with 2 tbsp of coconut oil and you are good to go! Preferably use a cotton pad to apply so bacteria from your hands cannot infect the area.
4. Treat insomnia
When used in form of aromatherapy, lavender can improve the quality and duration of your sleep.
5. Bug off!
Keep those bugs away! Add 7 drops to your candle or to a 25 ml water bottle and spray generously over your skin and/or clothing to keep those buggers like mosquitos far away.
